2010 Ledford Recap...

January
The year started off with a bang-- Cam and I rang in the new year at the hospital when we thought Conley might be coming too early.  We were sent home only to be surprised again 27 days later when we welcomed our son, Conley Kirk Ledford, into the world. (You may have send a few pictures of him on this blog)  

February
Guess what? The family is still in the hospital.  Conley was beefing up from 3lbs 15oz , Momma was trying not to let her kidneys die on her, and Dad was juggling them both.  We were all finally discharged on February 16th!! Conley was 5lbs 2oz when he was discharged and Momma started back on the roids (aka prednisone).  Oh yeah, did I mention that while all this craziness was going on we were trying to decide were we would spend the next 5 years of residency....just a minor detail. :)

March
Cameron embraced the role of being a stay-at-home dad while I went back to work.  During March Madness, the Jayhawks lost in the first round and I learned that I was 2 months away from up rooting my family and moving to North Carolina.  We also managed to buy our first home during a 48 hour trip to NC....which was my first and only trip to NC before moving there.  Conley started his 11 weeks spell of colic (it was AWFUL!). 

April
Conley gives us his first smile...amazing. :) But still colic. 

May
Cameron graduated for the 3rd time...Woohoo. :)  I retired from my job as a social worker to purse my life long dream of being a stay-at-home mom.  At the end of the month, we moved to our new home in Durham, North Carolina.  

June
The family is getting settled/remodeling, took our first beach trip with little man, Conley learned to roll over, and most importantly, the colic magically disappeared.  

July
Cameron started residency...he drops by every once in awhile these days.  On the other hand, Conley and I had a lot of visitors.  We enjoyed showing everyone our new home and weekend beach trips.  

August
HOME SWEET HOME....Conley and I went on our first trip back to Kansas.  Our trip was so much fun to see family and friends.  Conley started to get his first teeth, learned how to sit up by himself, and started to eat fruits and veggies.  

September
Conley went to his first football game (well we didn't make it past the tailgate).  We met the Duke Blue Devil and Conley wasn't impressed (neither was I). 

October

Conley started crawling, pulling up on everything, and cruising.  We started to learn what baby proofing a house really meant.    He was a lion for Halloween and Murphy was a pumpkin.

November
Cam popped back into the picture for his 2 week vacation for the year.  Conley said his first word "Ut-Oh."  He also started sleeping through the night!!! I cooked our first Thanksgiving meal in NC for Cam's fellow residents.  

December
Conley took his first couple of steps but is still not walking completely by himself.  He met Santa Clause and celebrated Christmas with family in Kansas.   

2010 a year of change, blessings, challenges, hope, and joy.  If we could sum it up in one word we would call 2010....a doozie.  Peace Out 2010!

A year ago today.....

 A year ago today...my life consisted of bedrest (aka being a human incubator). Little did I know that from this day forward the life that I knew would never be the same. Never again would I have nothing to do or be able to run a quick errand.  During my time on bedrest, my days were full of lying on my left side, eating lots of protein, playing sudoko, watching trash tv, playing on the internet, and praying for time to go by.  A trip to the restroom was a "big event" in my day.  Now looking back what I wouldn't give for just one day of lying on my left side. However, I am so thankful for my bundle of entertainment.  My little man keeps me on the move.  It's funny how life can change so much in a matter of a year.   

Just another day in the life of Conley Ledford.....

The mullet is gone...Conley got his first hair cut yesterday.  Cam and I took Conley to a little kids salon named Peek-a-Do.  Conley was a great sport.  He sat in a car chair while the hairdresser cut his hair.

New Words...

Conley said it.....MOMMA!!! Words can't describe the joy I felt when I heard my little man say momma!   He doesn't say it all the time but he says it occasionally.   

 Lots of ways to play with his jeep..... one day he started crawling under the jeep the next day he is walking and pushing the jeep.  This kid is hard at work!

Boys will be boys....

Conley is your typical boy. He goes hard 100% of the time. He loves to make loud noises and figure out how things work. His emotions are not displayed on his sleeve. Today, Conley went to the doctor to get his second flu shot. When the nurse gave him the shot he didn't cry or even make a peep. Cam and I are convinced that Conley developed a little toughness with his time spent in the NICU (it's funny how God turns those tough times into blessings). Conley can stand on his own and he is so close to walking. At times he will take a step or two. About a month ago he said his first couple of words...Ut Oh and Dada. Yes, people he said Dada before Mama...I am working on getting over it! Here are two video of the little boy. Video one & Video two

Also, I guess I should blog about something other than Conley. :) Cam is in the middle of taking his two day board test (3rd and last one Woohoo!!!). He has been studying so hard and we are so proud of him!! Keep up the good work Doc!!

traditions.

This year the Ledford family has started some new traditions. Here are a few of our new traditions:

Conley's new Christmas pj's he got the day after Thanksgiving. Getting good pictures of Conley is getting more difficult due to his mobility.

Every year we plan on making a Christmas ornament with Conley's hand print.

Visiting Santa is a must every year. Once again Conley became Mr. Serious when visiting Santa. We could not get him to smile.

This year we visited Santa with Conley's friend, Miller.
