Conley's 6th month Pictures

Conley had an amazing 6th month birthday! To celebrate I took him to get his pictures taken. I think his new favorite song is "Happy 6th month Birthday to you! Happy 6th month Birthday to you! Happy 6th month Birthday dear Conley! Happy 6th month Birthday to you!" Check out his new pics:

July 27, 2010--Conley's 6 month Birthday!!

Where has the time gone? I can't believe my baby is already 6 months old. Cam and I were reflecting on Conley's life thus far. Man, he has gone thru a lot in just 6 months time. All I have to say is God is good!! ;)

  • Conley has lived in 2 different states. At the age of 2 months, he found out that he was moving to Durham, North Carolina.
  • Conley has spent 3 whole weeks in the hospital. Due to being 6 weeks early he spent 3 weeks in the NICU. During that time he was hooked up to all kinds of machines to help him get healthy.
  • Conley was colic and screamed his head off most nights from 5:30pm to 9pm for about 11 weeks straight. (It felt like eternity to Cam and I)
  • Conley has his first plan ride at age of 4 month
  • Conley saw the ocean for the first time at 5 months of age. (That's a big deal for people from Kansas---most people don't see the ocean for awhile)
Here are a few pictures from Conley's first 6 months of life: Click Here
(Apparently, youtube will not let me use the music that went along with his video for copyright reasons. Sorry, it's my first video.)

Aunt Cortney and Uncle Justin Visit

This past week Aunt Cortney and Uncle Justin came to visit. We had a great time with them!! They were a big help with Conley! Cam had a crazy week he was on call on Tuesday and Saturday. So, he didn't get to hang out with them as much as Conley and I did. There is one thing that Conley and I have learned from being a doctor's family and that is "the show must go on." Conley and I gave Cortney and Justin the grand tour of North Carolina. We shopped, relaxed, swam, ate out at fun restaurants, toured Duke and UNC, and went to Wrightsville Beach. Thanks Aunt Cortney and Uncle Justin for visiting us! We were sad to say goodbye but Conley and I are making a trip back to Kansas in August so it won't be for long! Check out some pictures from our adventures:

Aunt Courtney and Liz Visit

Aunt Courtney and her friend Liz visited last week. We had an amazing time! The girls were great with Conley! He was entertained 24/7! During their stay we ate at fun southern restaurants, shopped, toured both UNC and Duke campus, did more shopping, went to Wrightsville Beach, and did I mention we shopped. It was a total girls trip! (By the way, Conley is becoming quite the shopper.) We miss the girls already and they just left.... Check out the pics.

Gramps and Grandma White Visit

Last week Gramps and Grandma White came to visit Conley. We had a great time with them!! They couldn't believe how much Conley had grown and how interactive he is compared to the last time they saw him. During their visit we toured both UNC and Duke campus, went swimming, shopped, and ate at some of our North Carolina favorite places. Overall, the trip was a success and we can't wait to see them again in late August or early September when Conley and I visit Kansas.

Residency Day 1--Annihilated

Annihilated is defined in Webster's dictionary as "to cause to cease to exist; especially: KILL." Yep, that would basically sum it up for Cam's first day of residency. He left our house at 4:30am and didn't return until 7:30pm. All he had to say was "Em, my pager went off about 80 times today and the chief resident said it was a light day. I basically got annihilated!" Also, check out his hot white pants that all ortho residents have to wear for the whole year. Wearing white pants and a short white coat is a long time Duke tradition. Currently, the Duke ortho residents are the only program still keeping the tradition alive.

On a lighter note, Conley is happy that Aunt Lindsey is in town. Pictures to come....

Lastly, my doctor's appointment was a success today! Dr. Smith is pretty cool and seemed to be up to the challenge of taking this hot mess on. Like all doctors, he doesn't have a cure for me or even really know how I got this crazy disease. I dropped some labs and should be getting results in the next couple of days. He would like to review my medical records before making any changes to my medications. Also, he stressed to me that he doesn't recommend me having anymore babies. So, let the journey began of looking into alternative options.
